The GAMM welcomes everyone interested in applied mathematics and mechanics and who wants to contribute to building a diverse, respectful, accessible and inclusive community. The GAMM values the diversity of its members and participants in all GAMM activities and identifies this as an intrinsically positive value.
As a scientific society, the GAMM is committed to creating an environment that promotes open expression and exchange of ideas and is free from any form of discrimination or harassment. Equal opportunities and equity are fundamental principles of the GAMM. Discrimination or preferential treatment based on gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, descent, for racist reasons, national or ethnic origin, language, faith, religious beliefs, age, marital status or appearance is excluded. Discrimination due to a disability or chronic illness is excluded. The GAMM promotes the actual implementation of equal rights for all and works towards eliminating existing disadvantages.
GAMM advocates the idea of science being a shared endeavour that transcends national borders and contributes to intercultural exchange. Scientific progress comes from the global exchange of ideas, data, materials, and respect for the work of others. The free and responsible exercise of research and teaching is fundamental to the well-being of people and the environment. It requires freedom of movement, association, expression and communication for scientists as well as equal access to data, information and other resources for research. This requires conducting and communicating scientific work with integrity respect, fairness, trustworthiness and transparency, while recognising its benefits and potential harms.
All GAMM members and participants in GAMM activities are called upon to help implement these goals. The organisers of conferences and activities that take place in the name of the GAMM or with its support are particularly asked to incorporate this commitment into their activities in an appropriate manner.
